What is there to see in Milan? A cultural itinerary through the monuments and symbolic sites in the centre of Milan, for tourists but also for all those Milanese who want to know the city where they live better!

Like tourists in Milan for a day

With this cultural itinerary we suggest, even for the Milanese (why not?), being tourists in Milan for one
day. After listening to our qualified guides, at the end of the visit you will think: “I passed here every day
and I never realized…”.

To cover the history of Milan, our guided tour touches on all, or almost all, the symbolic places of the city, which we forget to look at when we hurriedly cross Piazza del Duomo for an important appointment or we absent-mindedly stroll through Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to Piazza Scala, or in Via Torino, laden with carrier bags after an afternoon’s shopping.

At Neiade, especially for our Milanese visitors, we usually train our guides for unusual itineraries, bizarre aspects of the city, myths and legends between the narrow streets and less known buildings… what is known as unusual tourism! In actual fact, we are sure that you cannot already know and have visited everything that we have studied about the most classic Milan, the Milan not to be missed that is in front of our eyes every day. Here is a guided itinerary in the heart of Milan to be followed, at least for once, very slowly!

El Dom de Milan!

For this itinerary our guides can only start from the Duomo: a monument and symbol of the city, the largest Gothic building in Italy. The Duomo is the history of Milan! A story that began in 1386 and which continues up to the 20th century and its never-ending construction! The large area which is occupied today by the square and the buildings surrounding it has always been the hub of the religious and civil life of the city.
The first stop on our itinerary will naturally also take you inside the immense cathedral and will range from the colours of its stained glass windows to the pink-hued marble veined with light blue; our professional guides will tell you about its sculptures, the spires where the sun’s rays come to rest and then its silence and mystical soul…and up there the golden Madonnina who observes us from her 108.5 metres above the ground! Too much to tell… the Duomo of Milan cannot be described it has to be experienced! The Duomo is the main destination of at least two of our visits: the amazing one which goes up to the Terraces of the Duomo and the mysterious and fascinating visit where our enthusiastic guides take you down under the Cathedral. In the footsteps of ancient traditions.

The lounge of Milan: Entrance to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan

The itinerary, after leaving the Duomo, takes you to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, designed by
Mengoni: the Lounge of the city, a place of transit for executives in a hurry or a stopping place for tourists looking for the famous Bull. Going through Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, you will have the sensation of entering the heart of the city: as well as being one of Milan’s centres for luxury shopping, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II forms a splendid passageway between the Duomo and Piazza della Scala. It is an elegant arcade lined by countless designer stores and prestigious historical cafés like Prada and the Camparino.

The most famous theatre in the world

Listening to the stories about the Galleria, you will come to another of the treasures of classic Milan: the
elegant Piazza della Scala, with La Scala of Milan, the most famous theatre in the world. Its tickets are
always sold out because there are many tourists who choose Milan just to go to a performance at the
famous theatre. The Piazza offers our tour guides the chance to complete the visit with an exceptional
panorama of the surrounding architecture, from the Theatre and famous buildings, naturally together with anecdotes about operas and famous people.
A guided tour of the Museum of La Scala would make this walk too long, but you can read the details of
our tour of the Museum; as well as the Museum, which is very interesting, there is also the chance to complete the visit with a peek backstage, the behind-the-scenes most people never see.
